Thanks for a great session last week Steve. This week (Tuesday 25/5/2021) will be doing a pyramid session. A pyramid is a speed workout that progressively builds, then shortens, the length of the intervals you run.
I Mile warm-up (including some strides)
1 x 400m at 1M pace with 1mins recoveries
1 x 800m at 5K pace with 2mins recoveries
1 x 1200m at 10K pace with 3mins recoveries
1 x 1600m at 10M pace with 4mins recoveries
1 x 1200m at 10K pace with 3mins recoveries
1 x 800m at 5K pace with 2mins recoveries
1 x 400m at 1M pace with 1min recoveries
Cool-down jog
The main benefit of running a pyramid session, is that it allows you to overload the body in different ways on different runs, and will result in improvements in conditioning, endurance, and speed. The focus of this session is holding pace while keeping good running form.
