Peter Neilson
Peter Neilson joined Runnymede Runners back in the early days of the club in July 1983 but sadly passed away in 2000.
Those that remember him, talk of a kind generous man who took his camper van to all sorts of events, giving everyone lifts and offering coffee and biscuits to all. He was always on hand to offer advice and encouragement to everyone in a cheerful manner. He held a number of roles within the club, but particularly as race secretary he was so extremely enthusiastic that on more than one occasion he entered club members into events without their prior knowledge.
Living close to Windsor Great Park, and having a large garage/workshop, meant that he was happy to become the keeper of the Clubs physical assets and transported them to and from the many and various events where they were needed. He was also an Official Course Measurer and so set up the courses for the Relays, the Handicap and the Staines 10K.
He and his wife Veronica also opened opened their house and garden to RR for occasions such as the base for our Triathlons, where barbeque breakfasts were provided after the event and the Club 10th Anniversary party which was held in marques and tents in the garden.
